DAY 1641... Ode to Dr. Seuss

Reading is something that I love to do,
It sooths me,
it calms me,
it teaches me new.

Today is the birthday of a doctor we love,
he's smart,
he's witty,
he's someone we're thoughtful of.

Dr. Seuss teaches us lessons we can use in life,
they're crazy,
they're thoughtful,
they're helpful through strife.

Children love him as do adults,
he's cherished,
he's beloved,
he's not one for insults.

He helped me love reading and helped me through trials,
he's deep,
he's shallow,
he can rhyme for miles.

I hope that someday my children will know,
how special,
how important,
how much much they can grow,

From reading his works and studying his words,
they will learn,
they will grow,
they will not be nerds.

Happy Birthday to you even though you're not here,
we like you,
we love you,
we do feel you near.

Thank you for sharing your gift,
from me,
to you,
you gave my life lift.

May your words live on for years to come,
they're important,
they're needed,
from the heart they come from.
